The Seed Must Fall To The Ground and Die

We wanted to hit the mark
of Jesus and Him alone
but target lines blurred
as sin progressed.
Oh how strange is the cross
to our wayward flesh.
Bids us come and die.
Strange how the vibrant blossom
that falls from the tree,
must fall;
and in its place, is formed
seeds of life
that multiply a tree
a thousand times.
Those seeds lay still
in dark pods until the right time.
Beauty is only here for a moment.
But what remains is
in the deep, hidden recesses;
where God walked one through
the hardest times
and there one found Him
to be the greatest reward.

Our flesh will run us round
in circles.
Our flesh will parade us
and make us feel important.
But unless the seed falls
to the ground and dies,
it is a lone seed.
But if it dies,
it bears much fruit.

Beloved, run from the snares
and the trap of religious good works.
There is no end to its need
to perform and impress.
Sheep will only hear the voice
of their One True Shepherd.
They aren’t roused
from the green pastures
and still waters
to perform in a circus.
It isn’t in their nature.
The Shepherd isn’t interested
in all of that.
He knows and loves His sheep.
There are too many false shepherds
who do not know and love
God’s sheep with the heart
of the Shepherd.

They are turning the sheep
back to traditions, forms,
the pride of religious buildings
and monuments of the work
of men.

Return beloved to the mark
of the high calling of God
found only in Jesus.
He is the Target.

Aim for Him.
Listen for His voice.
Run from the appeals
of the false shepherds.

A time will come when
there will be no stone left
one upon the other.
And what then?
The Cornerstone remains.
And it’s a spiritual house
built by Christ Himself
that no man can touch.
No man can market that.
No man can handle and parade it.
No man has a right to it.
It is God’s and His alone.
We are His people.
He will accomplish this.
The seed must fall to the ground
and die.

The old man must be crucified.
Until then, you will flail
in religious dead works
and be run to the ground
for its cause.
The seed must fall to the ground
and die.

But you will find refreshment
and rest for your weary souls
every time
in the invitation that still stands,
“Come to me”.
“Come to me” is all Jesus desires.
To take His yoke upon you
and learn directly from Him.
