Only A Friend Can Read Between the Lines
You know me so well my friend.
I share things from my heart
and most of the time
so inadequately -
but you hear what I truly mean to say.
You overlook the primitive
and fill in the holes
with a warmth that exudes.
You look at me and you know.
We've been close friends
for so long
that our eyes can say a lot
to each other.
You read the me God has in mind
and your love covers over
a multitude of my sins.
I might have been a bit too much
but you helped me
and became a bit "over the top"
yourself.
You matched me
so I wouldn't feel out of place.
Your lack of selfish ambition
freed me to be myself.
You encourage the me
that is emerging
and tell me how courageous
it is to do that in this life.
You are you.
And I am me.
And we are OK with that.
You love the me God created.
I love the you that He formed.
Together we are growing up in Him
and experiencing His love.
You share your ideas with me.
My life has been enriched.
I share mine with you.
And you like them.
And I like yours.
Where do you end and I begin?
Where do you begin and I end?
Oh friend, thank you
for sticking with me
through the thick and thin.
If I dare say,
I think we love each other
more and more each day.
Jesus love in us leads the way!
What a life He has shared
and pours out through us
with one another.
Let's practice more of the same
when we meet again shall we?
