The Things I Most Enjoy

The care of little ones -
the nurture, feeding them,
reading to them,
seeing their eyes sparkle
and the new perspective
this create's.

Taking people to the hospital
and being there to pray
and hold a hand
when there is very few
who can be there
or the resources available.

Being there for those who are sick
and when others shy away,
bringing a pot of chicken soup
and being there to pray.

Inviting over the lonely
and those who have no friends.
Making fresh ground coffee,
laughing and sharing
an open door policy
and needs met.

Cleaning house when life
is very hard.
Mom's with little ones
whose strength is expended
on the most important
of all....nurturing their little ones.
Who nurtures Mom?

When I think about my life
and what I love the most,
I understand better why I react
to things and pressures
to be something big
and do something big.

Nurture of human beings
is of the very most value.
But if everyone is too busy,
who has the time that it takes
to listen and simply be together
and offer what another needs?

Who has time to take in a stranger,
to observe the need and meet it?
Not as a big "to do" to tell the world
but simply in secret as a friend would?

How are we ever going to hear
their deep need
for the ever Faithful One?
