How Can One Have Their Heart In Two Locations

I was driving home from a quick, one week visit to Northern Indiana to see my family and friends.  About two months ago, my husband and I moved from there all the way down to Miami Florida.  And my thoughts as we approached Miami, my new hometown, was surprising.  I love it here.  I was excited to see the tall buildings, the recognizable street numbers as we passed the exits on the highway.  I love the familiar businesses we pass every week.  I love how highway 95 South ends and turns into highway 1.  And when 95 ends, there are rows of gorgeous tree's as we enter the area I live, Coconut Grove.  How can one have their heart in two places?  I suppose it isn't all that hard.  We have traveled to Sarasota Florida many times for vacation with our children.  My husband and I have loved that city.  But this Miami.  This urban living.  This totally different climate, culture and way of life.  I am glad we moved here.  Challenging assignments often take you out of your comfort zone.  There is no way to tell if you are good at something else if you never do something else.  Challenges often come with the need to transition.  And transitions can be a tricky business.  But often there is a silver lining in those transitions.  Almost like a place of rest as you have to look to God more deeply.  And He is always to be found in our hard times, our dark times, our lonely times, our trying times.  There are gorgeous silver linings inside hardships.  They better us inside when we look to God.  Necessity has called for me to cook pretty much everyday.  To shop differently for food.  And I have enjoyed this different lifestyle.  I'm pretty sure it is training for something ahead.  I don't know what yet.  But I know that it will be wonderful.  When God calls us to something, you can be sure that in His will is provisions of His grace, compassion, financial provision and everything good even if things are hard.  He will truly not leave us or forsake us.  And if we can come away from any hardship seeing Him and knowing Him better as a faithful God, what better life is there?
