You are You - Be Like Jesus With Skin On

Sometimes it seems to you 

that you aren't doing much good.

When you read those articles,

look at those charts

and feel the attitudes of those

who look down on you.

I want you to know,

that you are doing all God intended.

It wasn't meant to be grand

in the eyes of men

or be applauded or given a title,

a paycheck, accolades and

a great big pedestal 

to be marveled and gazed at.

It is real.  It is raw.

It is you being Jesus 

to those around you

with your human skin on.

You are emotional, 

you aren't perfect.

You haven't been trained 

in the fine arts of the hoity toity.*

You are just you.

And you have people in your life

that you rub elbows with

and have done so over time.

You love Jesus.

That's about all you can be sure of.

And in a sea of voices

calling out for perfection,

you look at yourself 

and know without a doubt

that you'll never qualify.

And it hurts.

And you cry.

It leaves you feeling inadequate

and sometimes makes you think

"why try".

But know precious child of God,

you are all that He desires.

Just you.

In all your imperfection and lack,

He is calling you.

He is guiding you.

He is making you into His image.

Your life may never look 

like the shiny ones 

who seem to have it altogether.

But that never qualified you

to be a child of God.

You, a child of God are born of Him.

You have all that He is

in spite of what you see.

A wonderful principle He wants

for you to know is:

"The things you see are temporary,

but what is unseen is eternal."

Press on to know Him dear friend.

His power in you has no lack.

You are making big strides

though to you, they may seem little.

People are being touched,

they are seeing your life,

they are seeing your struggle,

They are seeing you get back up

and lean on God while the tears flow

and through the agony.

You smile because you know 

that if everything falls apart,

you always have a Rock -

and He is your God.

Place your eyes on me,

says your God.

Don't look to the right or the left.

I am doing a deep work in you.

Hold my hand and keep it there.

Keep seeking me and knowing me

and that is how you abide in me.

You are never inadequate in me.

I will accomplish all I said I would do.

That is my promise to you

and all of them are yes

with a resounding Amen!
