A Bee Makes Me Smile This Beautiful Morning
The rise of todays morning
as crickets sing in steady rhythm,
dew clinging to the grass
refreshing my dry feet as I walk.
The suns radiance is all over me.
I turn toward it
engulfed by the light and warmth.
It embraces me -
beckoning me to stay,
to lift my arms and embrace it back.
It beckons me to soak and bask -
thinking in the moment
the correlation between the sun
and the Son.
What a beautiful morning!
My Rose of Sharon bush
of pink blooms
faces the east
and the rising sun
each morning.
As I turned to drink in
the beauty of open blooms,
I noticed a bee
laden with pollen
as covered in a blanket.
I lean in to watch
this bee fully absorbed
as it digs deeply into
this flower to gather more.
This bee did not falter,
did not slack,
was not frightened at all
by the presence of my giant self
hovered over it.
This bee was simply enjoying
the sweet gathering of food.
Oh how I smiled
to think of how often we
get distracted by the giant
and lose out on the sweet nectar
of the enjoyment of our God.
This bee had it going on!
This bee was blanketed
in the glory of the sun
and the beauty of bloom
fully open and its fruit.
Somewhere, that bee
is sharing that sweet goodness
with other bee's.
Sweet, sweet honey
is being made,
formed in bee community.
May we be like that bee -
constantly gathering
in the glory of the Son
and taking Him in
and sharing Him with others
fully blanketed in His glory
and goodness!
as crickets sing in steady rhythm,
dew clinging to the grass
refreshing my dry feet as I walk.
