My Daughters Heart
Yesterday morning started out
similar to other mornings.
My daughter finds me on the couch
curled up with a warm blanket,
reading.
She comes and curls up with me
as I open the blanket for her
to join me and be warm.
We sit together and I read to her.
This morning, her heart hurt her.
She had been woken up
with heart pain
around 5:00am she said
and was in tears about it.
She had described it as
"a numb feeling".
She writhed beside me
as she bemoaned the pain
that was constant
with brief intervals of let up.
We prayed together
and waited in Gods presence.
He was there with us.
Calling the doctors office,
the nurse recommended I take her
to the emergency room.
Thoughts of who to call first
and quick message on Facebook
was sent out to my praying friends.
Close friend offered to pick up
my son from a short day
at the High School.
It isn't often that anything serious
happens in our family.
When they do, it has been good
to know the hand of God
and His ways that are so good.
He is always trustworthy
and always keeps His promises.
He brought peace
and the assurance
that He was there -
to take time to listen
and wait for His instructions
of care.
Enroute through the countryside
and then into town,
worship played quietly
as my daughter & I worshipped
our Savior. There was peace.
By the time we arrived
to the hospital,
the pain was minimal.
We even thought that maybe
it was muscular in nature.
The day before, a little friend
had come over
and both played tetherball
over and over.
We checked into the emergency room.
We sat and waited.
There weren't many there.
When my daughters name was called,
we went back and into a room.
Vitals were checked.
The doctor came in
and pressed on muscles.
There was no pain at all
in her heart or muscle.
An X-ray and EKG was ordered
just to double check everything.
In the room while waiting,
the sweet Presence of the Lord
was tangible. He was with us.
He is Immanuel.
It means, "God With Us".
Praying friends were sharing
encouragement via Facebook message
as I was able with hospital WiFi
to keep everyone up to date.
So thankful for friends who care,
sweet friends who pray
and who love me and my family!
There is nothing like the family
of God. Nothing.
EKG was hooked up
and my daughters heart was good.
X-ray was good too!
The doctor gave us the good report.
She was a sweet woman.
Our nurse Samantha was gentle
and kind. Expecting her 5th child.
I know God healed my daughter.
The substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen
was found in the confidence we have
in Him. He is faithful.
He answers the prayers
of the righteous.
His ears are open to their prayers.
We left the hospital with joy.
The rain was falling hard.
But we were parked
in the parking garage.
We are kept by the power of God.
Thank you friends -
you lovely ones who are called
by His name.
Thank you for praying.
God touched more
than just my daughter.
Everyone in contact with us
were touched by Him as well.
His Kingdom come
and His will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
And for the close friend
who brought a meal,
your love fed more
than just our family last night.
Two more families were touched.
The bride of Christ is lovely!
His heart is beating through you.
