Those Magical Moments
Today was sunny and bright
and the changing leaves
of the tree's were beautifully set
as a jeweler carefully would -
in a setting of sky, blue.
My oldest son was waiting for me
in his usual spot.
Before his tall, handsome frame
came into view,
I was looking forward to his image
and my heart skipped a few.
The usual conversation ensued.
But not before he made sure
my car was quickly out
of peer view.
"So, how was your day" I asked.
A bit annoyed, he replied,
"Same as always.
Why do you have to ask?"
Incredulous that day after day
can go by with nothing
in which to share,
I prodded a little further.
"Did you have no magical moments?
You know that kind where
you meet the eyes of another
and a connection was made?
Or did any stop to give you
a compliment?
Did you look out your bus window
on the way to career center
and enjoy the view?"
Sarcastically, he said to me,
"I didn't see a dead mole
in the hallway.
I didn't stop to taste any grass
before I entered the building".
For fun, I added a couple sarcastic
suggestions of my own.
Just to make sure he got the point.
Are boys that different from girls?
Is it a boy or girl thing?
Is it that life just holds us captive
and we don't pause to enjoy
magical moments
or is that a learned thing?
Take time to look at the clouds.
Stop and let the sun rays
linger on your skin.
Watch the tree's as the wind
whips through the leaves.
Feel the breeze
go through your hair.
It's the little things.
Those things are valuable
you see.
Imagine and let your heart
and mind go to the beauty
of who God says He is.
Just linger in His Word of life.
The heavens declare His glory.
Enjoy Him and all
His wonderful works!
