The Long View And The Short View

I live in a home in the city where tall trees encircle it and are all around it.  I find the only view of the sky is out of my front porch looking north.  I don't see a storm until it is right on me.  I don't see the moon unless it is in that sector of my view.  I have a short view of what is happening in the sky.

My sister lives in the country about 12 miles south of me.  The back of her home faces a wide-open field of growing corn and she can see for miles.  She has a long view and can see an approaching storm a decent way off before it hits.

I love seeing her photo's because by the time a storm hits here, she can see it coming and get great long-view shots.

Sometimes in life, we are placed in a short-view of the storms we experience.  And sometimes those around us have a long-view and can see it coming or even see it ending before we do.  And I realized today that this kind of thing is normal.  I've been caught in a short-view of my own life while in the middle of an intense emotional or physical storm.  How encouraging it has been to share with a friend and hear their long-view of what I'm experiencing.  Other times, I've heard about the storm another is experiencing and have been able to encourage them with a long-view.

It's great that there can be no judgement of one another when we find ourselves in a short-view and in the middle of the storm.  We have all been there.
