Abiding With God In The Resting Place

It's one thing to be an
acquaintance of someone.
Then there is quite another
to abide with them.

Acquaintances go by what they
see from the outside.
They don't get the intimate glimpse
of the fuller story.

These can feel like a true
cheer-leader in your life
because they usually tell you
what you want to hear.

It can go the other way as well
and you may experience
their thoughts
in a darker viewpoint.

Abiding with someone
goes much more deeper.
Truly abiding takes work.
It takes a surrender of will
to practice the desires
of the one you are in abidance with.

To abide with someone
is to know their desires,
to hear how they want
their sacred place to be
and to step into the flow.

Some people you just can't abide with.
Their flow doesn't match
the flow you desire to flow with
and are flowing in.
There is tension.
Tension is when one
is pulling/pushing harder
than another is willing to give.

There is no tension
when there is no resistance
from the other end.

The one who dwells with God
will abide with Him
and to abide with God
is to rest.

Resting does not come natural
for us.
We are often known for
being in animosity towards others.
Much of the time, our thoughts
are accusing and excusing
the people and situations
around us.
Accusing others and yet,
excusing our own darkness.
So much tension.
So much resistance.

To abide with God is to know His thoughts
and His ways
and to learn to flow in them.

So many are simply acquaintances of God
and we love hearing accolades
in sermons about Him.
We pick and choose the spiritual menu
we want to indulge in.
We love the world and the things
that are in it,
but despise the discipline
that comes with being
a true son who abides with God.
We want the blessing
but spit out the nasty taste of the suffering involved
with being in the flow with God.

To rest is only found
when we abide with God.
The tension is never caused by Him,
but as we truly desire to be
in His flow and are learning
to surrender our will to Him,
there is tension.
Don't dwell on the tension.
Take the things
that are trying to hinder you
to God.
Tell Him about the battle
you are facing with desires in you
that keep you from Him.
He will work in you
to will and do His good pleasure.
Pretty soon you will find
that the things of earth
and all the things that used
to grab your heart and attention
will fade away.
And then there it is.
You have stepped into His abode.
And you will abide there
in His rest.
Such a beautiful place.

One with Him.
