A Beautiful Christmas

It's really about special memories
and the One who makes it all special.
The ones who are down and out.
The ones no one especially seems
to care about.
When the whole world does one thing
and there is freedom to do other.
That is what I enjoyed this day.

Woke up to snow falling,
friends calling (and texting),
waking up sleeping children
with an Asian on YouTube singing
the song, "Jingle Bells".
Kids groaning.
The story of Jesus.
A present opening.
Omelets sizzling.
Pumpkin pies baking.
Trip to friends house.
No cars at the Meijer parking lot.
Church family and extended.
Laughter and teasing.
Crazy test drive with friend.
Stop for long hug with another friend.
Across town traveling.
Home the country way.
Friend and daughter arriving.
Turkey leftovers picked from carcass
and enjoyed.
Coffee freshly ground
with rich cinnamon whipped cream.
Worship and scripture sharing.
Hugs goodbye.
And sit here reminiscing.
What a beautiful day it was!
