Key Biscayne with Friends From Columbia

There something strangely satisfying
about the way one feels
after an extended time at the beach.
The sun kissed skin
that is extra-warm to the touch
and that tinge of sunburn.
The wind blown hair,
the tired feet, the intense hunger
and food tastes really great.
The mega thirst
and the sweet sweet memories.

There is this feeling
that you've done something right.
It's satisfying down deep.
You spent the day with an open view
of the far off horizon of sky and sea.
You listened to creation
and watched them fly.
You laughed at the flock
of little birds with their short little legs
and wondered how
they could move so fast
like a movie in fast forward.
It simply made you giggle
on the inside.
You discovered sea life
clinging to clumps of seaweed
and you nudged the little creatures
out of their hiding places
and screamed
as they were tossed your way.
You let the beauty overtake you
and lingered in its embrace.
These kinds of things are valuable
and never a waste.

Pictures taken.  Faces reflecting
the inner delight
of special moments like these.

Long walks and talks
about life and family things
that were hard
and cures more readily available now
than there ever were.

Some talks about issues so hard
and things that happen so terrible,
to young ladies, seized for desires,
that there just aren't words.

Huge cruise liners make way
in our view.
Marvel at their size
and though none of us had been
on a cruise, we dreamed of places
that we might choose.
Talked of monkeys seen
and the scary dinosaur sounds
on a trip one made close to Belize.
So scary for a city girl
just moved to another country
and out deep in the woods.

Sandwiches made
from one loaf of bread
that were so big,
and so soft
and avocado scraped out
using the side edge of
a piece of paper plate.
Mountain Dew to wash it down.

Big moon begins to appear.
Brighter and brighter it's fullness gets.
Picture taken made moon look smaller
But truly admired.

We really didn't want to leave
but park security came around
as dusk fell, to tell everyone
that the beach was now closed.
Thinking at first he said
something about "clothes".
And a time of evaluating
what each one of us wore.
Clothes - closed,
it can sound the same
when wind and waves
make their joyful noise.

Peacock strutting around
on the way out.
Admiring the beauty of the satiny blue
reminding one of her beautiful dress
back home.
More peacocks came into view.
All had feathers tucked close.

Pair of ducks close by.
Made duck noises with cupped hand
and they waddled near,
Making duck noises of their own.
Thought they wanted to become
our friends.

Long bridges over water
with sights of sparkling lights
of the tall buildings of downtown Miami.
Slightly lost but thankful
for GPS and the navigator young man
in the back seat.

Goodbye's said and home at last.
Food to eat and hot coffee.
Lego movie
made guest laugh and laugh.
I'm pretty sure we'll follow
the manual to be liked.
Breath deep.
Go out balcony and say,
"Good morning city".
Buy expensive coffee.
Everything is awesome.
Everything is cool
when you're part of a team.
A community has it's pain
but there is nothing like it
and to learn to get along
is very important.
And that is something I wish I
had learned at an earlier age.
Conversations of this type
shared earlier in the day
on the way home from Aldi
and observations made
after passing Montessori schools
and learning how they teach.
Fascinating.

Thank you dear young lady
and young man from Columbia.
I enjoyed and learned so much
from you both today!
