The Aquamarine and the Opal

Two jewels were having a conversation
as they were apt to do.
In fact, these two jewels have had
many an encounter over the years.
The experiences they have shared
are of such treasure that one
could not adequately use words.

One day Aquamarine, as Opal
affectionately called her,
was particularly feeling down,
lonely and a bit far away.

Opal, in her usual way of bringing
out just the right sparkle
for any occasion and has that
God-given ability
to see right to the heart of the matter,
gently reminded Aquamarine
of the hope that is in her,
"I see you.  You flow with life
and bring living water with you".

It always perks Aquamarine up
when she is reminded by Opal of
who she is.  There is a renewed
zest for life to have one speak
to her like this.
Opal just has that gift of sparkle.

So one day, after Opal had poured
and poured so much into
Aquamarine's life,
Aquamarine looked at Opal
and said to her,
"You are pure and white like a bride waiting expectantly for her groom.
On the inside,
you have the fire
of Gods passionate love
burning in you.
There are multiple colors
that are in you
and while you walk
with the one who is glorious,
He draws out this color and that
and you shimmer on the inside."

Opal began to shed tears of joy.
All this time, she really hadn't thought
about what kind of jewel she was -
so busy telling other jewels
who they are.

Now she knows.
She is a gorgeous Opal.
And Aquamarine and Opal
continued to be great friends
and in heaven, the foundations
of Gods walls encircling the great city
are built of precious jewels.
And wouldn't you know it?
There are Aquamarines and Opals
enmeshed side by side and yet one,
along with every other precious
jewel one has ever spoken to
and others we'd only heard about
besides.

Opal, thank you
for your beautiful gift of friendship
and helping me see who I am...
your eyes filled with the light
of the glory of the King.
