It's OK To Understand Your Limitations As You Grow Older
Yesterday, I had the privilege of playing some music for six beautiful elderly ladies in my hometown of Goshen. I set up my dulcimer and began to practice some notes softly. My senses were taking in the atmosphere. There was this underlying sense of peace that these precious ladies were so well loved in whatever physical state they were in. Each of us have a beautiful fit in the big-picture of this life God has us in.
The ladies started coming in and each found a seat. Halfway into playing my music, I shared with them that I will be 46 years old soon. And though that may not seem so old, I have already begun to know more of my limitations. I've cried over some of them and shared my heart with my Heavenly Father. And He has been so gracious to impart to me my value in spite of them, and how He has good plans for me. He also lets me know that it's OK to grow older and to know my limitations. There is peace imparted when you've given your life in whatever state or age you are in, over to a trustworthy God. Knowing He is in control is comforting.
I conveyed a little of the above to these precious ladies and continued to play music. But how I wish I could convey to them how loved and valued each of them are in the very place of life they are in. I know God can convey to them what my words cannot.
As you grow older, there is a sweet rest to be had when you can grow older with God your Father. He has provided everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him. He has called each of us to His own glory and goodness and given each of us His exceeding great and precious promises. Don't conform to the pressures around you and walk with Him and listen to His heartbeat for you in this stage of your life.
