The Struggle To Overcome Offense Is Worth It

More and more as time passes and days are added to my life-span, I am confronted with my choices. When I am offended with someone close to me that is in my life, am I going to let the offense or disappointment take hold of me so as to ruin a beautiful friendship with another? Always, it comes to a choice of my own in this question and the working through of possible consequences.

But as I get older, I am realizing how much work it has taken to build relationship with another. The ones in my life are so very precious. Building a friendship over time is not easy. To build a lasting structure takes years. I will never forget hearing about how long it took to build some of the amazing buildings in Paris. But those buildings stand to this day.

So when you are tempted to choose frustration and anger, holding onto offense towards another you care about and who has cared for you, consider your decision carefully. Paris was not built in a day and you cannot go out and just pick up another close friend. It doesn't work that way.

You never want to find yourself to be old one day and have no one with which to enjoy life with and hear each other's hearts and be connected. Connection, and having others in your life is a very precious and rare thing.
