The Sound Of Crashing Waves At Night
The wind is strong over Lake Erie tonight as I sit and hear the crashing of the waves. Our AirBnB is within view of this mighty lake separating the United States from Canada. I’ve never been this close to the lake before and today I got to step onto it’s beautiful shore and watch a sunset where dark clouds that were in this region were swept away just in time for a brilliant show that felt like a special gift for my friend and I. It was all glorious.
But I sit in a room that is warm and cozy, filled with furnishings from another era gone by. And I am thrilled to be so near this lake where I can hear the sound of crashing waves through the thinner windows. It’s a lovely sound that makes me want to linger on into the night and soak. Morning will come early and I’ll have to leave this nearness to waters I was just recently introduced to. But isn’t it that way for those who don’t live near big bodies of water. It is such a treat when the opportunity comes. It’s better to write about such things in the moment while the hearing is in the ear and the feeling is there along with it. And there is the delight of doing so.
