Record Every Word

Do you ever wish you could record
every word that was said
between you and your close friend?

When you are known
and you just enjoy the moment
with each other,
things are conveyed through words
that can be so impactful
and deeply touching
and may be unknown to the other.

Words aren't just words.
They do stuff.
You mentioned an observation
about the many no's
we have experienced.
I mentioned how God was working
on my heart
to leave the past in the past
so I could move on.
That was today
while we sat together
enjoying gyros
that you got me to love.
(And saved my marriage).
Sharing about the joy of tithing
and how it has affected you.

One other time this week
you said something
and it soothed my heart so much
that I can't stop remembering:
"I wish things would have worked out.."
I gave too quick a response
to your impactful words.
Later they've come back to me
and I've been able to soak.

On Monday, we shared breakfast
at my favorite breakfast place.
And again, you shared observations
about our trying time
of buying a home
in Central Florida.
You had that contemplative
prophetic look on your face
that I've seen before.
You shared those observations
just like I heard before.

I may not listen to everyone.
Many others don't know me
or have heard me like you have.
But I care about the words
you share from your heart
because it cares.

Thank you friend.
