You Are Like A Sister

No matter how this life plays out,
one day you walked into mine.
I remember that time.
It was anticipated.
I had seen your online photos
and there is always that joy
to see a persons face
for the first time.

You overcame so much
in what you were facing physically
and what you had to face
with outer landscape changes
on the apartment we lived in.

You overcame the tough times
as our family was adjusting
to life in the city
and city life with teens
and the city's unfamiliarity
and our uncertainties.

You said things and did things
that you felt needed said and done.
You sung things and danced things
my eyes can never undone.

Time does tell of arms open
and forgiveness applied often
as a sweet balm.
Of commitment in love
and failure met with hope.

Nothing was perfect
and yet, the beauty of love
always wanted to shine forth.

I think of all the times
and the changing landscape
of seasons.
Ya know, it is better
to walk together than alone.

And I just want you to know
that God does knit hearts
for the purpose He only knows.
So we can enjoy the silver lining
of come what may,
where He holds the future
of all of us in His everlasting arms.
And whispers to our hearts,
"Stay".
