And Her Legs Grew A Mind Of Their Own and Said, "No".

As it is with so many abrupt changes in life,
my daughter exercised her legs
and it caused her muscles
to ache and the ache
caused her to groan
and hobble about like a granny
whose image you can see
in minds eye
of one rocking ever so slightly,
while knitting in a rocking chair.

Her legs have taken on
a mind of their own.
Her eyes bright with enthusiasm
and the desired effort
to move about effortlessly
and yet, her legs scream, "No!"

Her legs refused to push her up
and out of the car.
They wouldn't let her go upstairs
to empty out the dehumidifier.

And when I had a brilliant thought
to go for a tandem ride,
I knew my answer from her legs
would be,
"Really?  I don't think so."

Legs, you'd better heal up
and give my daughter back
her own choices.
She nor I like your decisions
nor any of your voices.
