I Don't Have To Fix Anyone

Life can be overwhelming
for each and every one of us.
We can even be overwhelming
to each other at times.

One thing to remember
that has helped me in my life
is the realization
that it isn't my job
to make people happy
nor is it my job to fix them.

One thing I can do is to listen,
to smile with, to encourage,
to offer to hide the body for them
(adding a little humor here),
make food and drinks,
keep myself in Christ's love
and do what I can
in the capacity He suggests
in the moment.

Agenda simply won't do.
Fitting another's situation
into my judgement or opinion
doesn't help one bit.

And even if I think I know something,
I can't trust that.
"For what we know is incomplete..."
and is imperfect.
Three things alone endure -
faith, hope, and love,
but the greatest of those is love.

No amount of control helps anyone.
God can use our simply there
and our being together
in normal flow of conversation
to speak what another
may need to hear
and we didn't even know it.

We don't have to fix anyone.
Walk in love
and leave the fixing to God.
He created all things in six days
including human beings
and I'm absolutely sure
He can guide His own
(Like a shepherd)
toward His heart.
