The Mugs Through A Veil Of Rain

The rain seemed to come at a completely inconvenient time as people were setting up their merchandise for the Fine Arts Festival this morning.  It started as soon as we arrived and it was tricky getting to and from here and there.  But once I was set up under the overhang in front of the building, the rain took a pause between cells for a time.

I played my hammered dulcimer for the allotted hour, enjoying the notes floating out into the atmosphere.  Funny how it takes awhile to warm up and about the time my hour was up, I was getting some good rhythm and beats a-flowing.  The jazz trio setting up beside me was a treat to hear.  The oldest of the group came over to hear me play and encouraged me in what he heard.  He said I had a good handle on melody and musical composition.  That is good to hear from one who knows music well.  He took a CD of my music recorded in Miami from the stack and gave me a good-sized donation for it.  A couple ladies there together who were close friends both had come and wanted to hear me play.  They both took a CD and left me a donation.  It was great to ride together to the art festival with my sweet sis and niece.  They were a big help and just their being there was comforting.

The rain began to come down with renewed vigor as the new cell had reached our area.  We rushed our stuff to the car and I pulled out my large beach umbrella.  That thing is huge and colorful and could completely fit at least five people under there.  In fact, my niece was walking under it holding her little umbrella.  It was cute to have her under my big one while under her little one.  Reminded me of mushrooms.  Of which I've had quite the experience with some very large mushrooms in my yard lately....but I'll leave that for another story.

My sis and I were headed straight for the pottery we'd seen would be at this event.  We found it and admired the gorgeous mugs.  They were just as beautiful and more so as we'd seen in the pictures.  They were $15 each or two for $25, so of course we each wanted two.  I actually wanted eight but all the cash I had on hand were the donations for the three CD's, so I took on the challenge of only selecting two from the rows of warm hues of pottery art the creator happened to call mugs.

The rain was coming down hard as we made our selections.  And I think my sister and I just felt damp.  Our feet were wet, our shoes, our hair, our clothing.  And we made off through the sheets of rain with our treasured mugs and into the car.

Rain coming down when you are out and about makes for quite an adventure and unique experience.  Thinking about that now brings a smile to my heart.
