When Life Looms Overwhelming, God's Word Holds The Key
God's Word goes down deep into the core of our innermost being. As one sits with it and reads and meditates, the Word penetrates all those hard areas in a way that nothing else can. The hard places are shaken as conviction from God begins to pour in - like rain upon a sun-scorched land where deep cracks have formed in a sun-baked climate. When we allow the fullness of conviction to break us, tears and repentance flow together and healing takes place. Nothing remains the same in this encounter. When you are with God in these times with His Word, He is towards you as well and you don't always realize what is going on.
You may think that your time with God in these moments didn't accomplish much, but you get up and things just aren't the same. Your reality has changed. Sometimes we have found joy in a smokescreen or a mirage and after times with God, those things are seen for what they truly are. You are faced with the reality of your life with Him and this depth requires a turning away from that old perception to realize an exquisite, eternal one. It forces you in a good way to take stock of what is important and helps you walk on a straight path. Where once your feet dangled over a precipice, God's Word places you on solid ground. There are idols of all kinds looming everywhere you look in life.
God's Word is the only true direction and holds the way of eternal life. Everything else is just smoke and mirrors, tempting you with dazzling lights and display. But the tangible reality of heaven is found in Christ. In the beginning, before the world was made, before earth was populated with beautiful creatures and lush foliage of all kinds, before even man made in God's image was formed from the dust, the Word existed. So when life seems to spin and you wonder what-in-all-this-what is truly important, come away and spend time with genuine and true existence. Come and taste the Word of Life. For once you begin tasting, you will find that He is good. And blessed are you when you trust in His life-changing Words for you.
