When Gift-Love Wears Thin

When my heart is overwhelmed,
I need you God.
When one of my children is alone
and making a commitment
to something big
and I can't be there for him,
I need you God.
When my love for others
starts to fade into selfishness,
I need you God.
When I've run myself thin
and my patience has worn through,
I need you God.
When the inner needs of others
finds my spirit troubled,
I need you God.
I need.
I used to think that needing
was a bad thing.
But when the week is long
from caring for human beings;
When the gift-love is spent,
I find my need for you
brings me close
for a recharge.

And oh how I need you
right now.
A recharge pours into my lack
and you can fill me up
for the giving out
for the week ahead.
