A Spontaneous Outing With My Friend
Today held an unexpected surprise.
You see, my friend missed me.
The texts of love
and anticipated hugs
were sent back and forth
throughout the afternoon
and late morn.
Then it happened.
My sweet friend and I
were able to sneak away
on this beautiful, sunny day.
We stopped for candy.
We stuffed our purses full.
If only we had bigger ones,
we could have gotten more in!
We snuck in with our loot
waited for the lights to go out
and the movie to begin.
Wouldn't you know it,
the light above us
was the last one to go dim.
I don't think it ever fully
went out like the others did.
We enjoyed a lingering hug
for my friends dear sis
at the restaurant nearby.
The hostess seated us
but it just wasn't that special place,
so we boldly got up
and busted a move to "our table".
We ate freshly prepared guacamole
and even scraped the bowl.
I found out that scraping
a cast iron Mexican bowl
with a metal spoon
was not a melodious noise!
My friend shook
as it raked against her very soul.
We devoured a wet burrito.
We held hands to pray.
Our hearts burdened for friends,
my friend spoke them by name.
Our car, parked so far away
was a blessing in disguise.
We were able to walk and talk
on this warm November 11th.
Walks with a friend are my
most favorite thing.
We stopped for some milk
as each of our families needed
a restock.
We found our favorite new coffee
in the clearance aisle
and bought every single bag!
It was raining slightly
as we left the store.
I drove my dear friend home.
We got all the groceries up together
in one load!
Oh how much fun it was
to go out spontaneously
with my dear and bestest friend
who I adore!
