First Ever Holden/Chupp Thanksgiving

It was all an accident
as these kind of occurrences
tend to start out as.
You see, I had this little turkey
and it needed baked.
My oven does not work.
Well, you see my dilemma
and need.

My problem became
an opportunity for my dear friend.
She caught on to the issue
very, very quick.

The turkey would take a good
3-5 hours to cook and I think
we stretched it to the limit.

And what started as a problem
became the idea for our
first ever Thanksgiving dinner.

My friend made the most delicious
mashed potatoes
and turned the turkey juices
into amazing gravy.
I made two pumpkin pies
with my Mothers pie tins.
We enjoyed toasted almonds
in with our green beans
and cute little bottles of water
and homemade whipped cream.

We sat, laughed and watched
Peanuts cartoons.
Women cooked together
in the kitchen.
Children ran around eating up
all the attention.
Men cackled at the show
"America's Funniest Home Video's"
and a funny commercial.*

A lovely sister from a State
just down to the South
shared stories and we laughed.
We savored pumpkin pie together.
And I let out a long sigh.

I love our Holden's!
I never knew friends could be
so close - just like family.

Bellies full and eyes sleepy,
we left happy and filled
with wonderful, sweet memories.
My last hug goodbye
to sweetest friend
as I pulled her up out
of her soft chair
was really just to say,
"until next time"
as it always is.
