We Felt Like We Cheated

Last night my husband and I
went out on a date.
Thinking about where we could go
has always been
a time consuming endeavor -
the possibilities so endless.

And then the idea hit.

You see, we have amazing,
lifelong friends.
And this lifelong friend couple
introduced us awhile back
to one of their favorite restaurants.

We've enjoyed double dates together
and this place embodies
very warm and awesome memories.

And last night, we ate there, solo.
The food was yummy.
The conversation held was needed.
The time together
with sweet hubby was dear.
But when we left the place,
we just felt weird.

We almost decided to go
to our friends home and visit.
But we didn't.
So we went home instead.

This morning our dear friends
sat behind us in church
and I had to confess
our misdeed.

I wrote on a section of paper
and handed my confession to them.
There was a sound of ripping
as paper was torn into bits
and the pieces were handed
back at me.

I could hardly contain my laughter
and turned around
to look at my friend and said,
"Tell me how you really feel".

Oh my goodness!
My friends are so much fun!
The torn up pieces of paper
will always be remembered.

Never cheat on friends.

I think we will invite them
to go with us next time,
instead.
