Leap year,
you leapt into my life
and sparked a warmth
I shall not soon forget.

You came,
sparkling like fireworks
of sun and warmth,
unusually high temperatures
that caused me to abandon
my coat.

An extension you gave
of 24 hours to pay
a bill and a trip out
on your fine extravagance.

An unexpected invite
and anticipation high
as a little mention
produced a huge heart sigh.

Side by side,
my friend and I,
soaking the fullness
of your brightness
in friendship
and vitamin D.

Children playing,
Grandma swaying,
rocking little ones
cozied close,
singing softly.

Challenge of lunch
finds laughter,
sharing choices
and handwritten note
I will keep forever.

Footlong special for the month,
would not have been available
except for your bonus love.
Top that off with a free cookie:
spoiling like a cherry on top.

But the best part of you
was the one whose love
I have come to enjoy.

We shared the warmth of friendship
as we sipped our warm coffee
and ate our good food
and poured out our hearts
enjoying all this
from the heart of a most
worthy Lord.
