My Heart Began To Dream

Driving into the sun
along the highway,
taking the off ramp to head North
where intersection of state road
forces a turn one way or another
stood a building for sale.

In one instant my heart
longed for possibility
and I began to dream.
Articulating dream excitedly
to the one I love beside me,
he smiled and exchanged ideas.

It was a swift and sudden thing.
What never thought one could,
now seems possible.

Sure, I've mentioned a little piece
of this with one,
a little piece of this with another.
A fire starts with a spark here
and a spark there.

A building for sale.
It was a perfect size for 30-50.
There was a drive-up awning
where a family could be dropped off
and sheltered from rain or snow
at its front door.

There was a nice parking lot.
Grass for young ones to play.
How about a grill outside
and men standing round,
women laughing,
children playing?

We had visited a church in Florida
with an oversight of two brothers.
One expounded the bible, verse by verse.
The other lead in simple worship with guitar.
There were couches, chairs around tables...
open spaces and area to enjoy coffee
and one another.

You know, any brother in Christ could
share scriptures and study ahead of time
and pray and teach from the heart of God.

Ah, this was a dream.
It was lovely.
And my heart smiled real big.
You never know.
I don't know what our future holds.
But on this sunny day
with the wind blowing
and my family together,
it was fun to talk about this dream
together.
