In The Spring Of Morning, They Came
When the cheery message came
and the day arrived,
I woke with anticipation
and the sense that this whole thing
was God ordained.
I can tell these kinds of things.
You pray and there is desire
for only things that God knows.
He so intimately knows
the intricacies of each one
of His dearly loved children.
One arrived and I heard her voice
before I saw her slender frame.
Her little daughter
dressed in bright pink
and the most gentle shade of violet.
I peeked out, and smiled at her
from my front door
and her eyes sparkled
and hands to her mouth
in gleeful expectation.
Oh how adorable are little ones.
And her sweet Mommy.
Braving this town in early morn.
Walking all this way
just to come see me
and enjoy some creamy coffee.
Then a car pulls in the drive
and little girl and I
go back to see who it could be.
Little one excited about everything.
And up walks a little man
into her view and cries of “Jesse”
leaves her mouth.
The most adorable thing
for a slightly over two-year-old
to know the name of her
five-year-old cousin.
And his Mom comes into view.
Its amazing to me how people
come together.
And quick trip to bakery together
to enjoy with our coffee’s.
Danish’s for all
and cookies for the kids.
Fresh coffee made.
Wishing I had a half gallon
of half & half instead of
what quickly went into our drinks.
Out onto porch with little’s
and cozy blankets
and what a joy to be outside!
Mention of longer than normal winter,
the view of redbud flowering
and the energy of children.
Simply lovely.
Dynamics like this brings
a smile to my face.
I know this day was no accident
and loved having these dear ladies
and their precious children
who both hugged me close
before they left.
Heart full and still loving
the memory of their visit
even as I write.
Thank you for coming sweet friends!
