A Heart At The Bottom ~ A Mug of Love

The sun was shining ever so brightly,
streaming through the group of people
that were greeting one another
in the foyer.

These weren't just any people,
these were people I know and love,
close friends who are family.

I heard the familiar voice of a friend
as she came into view.
Smiles erupted and she came near
for a hug.

Opening the bag with handles of pearls,
a gift she had picked up for me...
I smiled at the content.
It was a great big, beautiful mug
for coffee.

A whimsical mug,
delightfully fun for the eyes
and just large enough
for any coffee enthusiast
to have a big fill
of their favorite roasted ambrosia.

As a reminder of her love for me,
painted at bottom,
as last heavenly dregs taken in -
a heart.

(And just now, while writing,
I enjoyed the last dreg of delicious Newmann's Organic blend, remembering this friends love.)

Dear friend,
I will enjoy this cup of love
picked out just for me.
It isn't just a mug
but it is an extension of you
and your love.

I cannot thank our beautiful Savior
enough for His goodness and kindness through you,
as together,
we may be strong enough
to grasp the idea of the height,
length, depth and breadth:
Yes, to come at last to know
this love of Christ
that far surpasses human understanding,
so that we will be filled with
the perfect fullness of God.

Oh Supereminent Savior,
in union with you
and in fellowship with one another,
we are being built up
into a dwelling for God
through His Spirit.

You are loved my friend!
