The Smell Of The Outdoors
It’s Saturday morning. And if you are ever so blessed to have the morning be unplanned and are able to just go outside and sit and soak in the early mornings freshness and watch the breeze move the tender leaves ever so slightly, and smell the air, you notice there is quite a difference from breathing the air inside our homes compared to the outside. Fresh breeze and fresh outside air has a rejuvenating factor and this morning holds just the perfect temperature to sit and soak. It relaxes you as you breath. It beckons you to look beyond and to think deeply and your spirit has a chance to stir and be aware of more than just the temporal and peeks down the lane of the eternal. The beautiful flower of time enjoyed in the moment with God always blossoms more bright and beautifully when we take advantage of this gift to be with Him and there comes the knowing. To be still and to know He is God does go hand in hand. Interesting how He made it to be this way.
I absolutely love unplanned Saturday mornings. The family is home and they get to take advantage of much needed physical rest. And they do. I love that they do that. I try to set up my morning to be up at least a couple hours before they are to sit and soak and sip on a creamy cup of coffee in a thoughtfully chosen mug and slice up a fresh apple and just go outside on the front porch weather permitting. Perfectly warm weather doesn’t last very long here in Indiana, so taking the time to enjoy it while it lasts takes priority.
Each season has its underlying beauty and special opportunities. Don’t rush too fast in life and neglect the delicate and precious opportunities for connection and connectivity that each of them afford. Our precious inner spirit needs this to live and Gods precious Spirit longs to connect with us in the deep depths of God’s love that always awaits. There is the sweet aroma of his heartbeat we get to enjoy because of Jesus and His precious will given over to His Father to do His will and bring us into close fellowship. There is the call to our hearts that this is what we were made for whenever we slow down and be still. And we begin to know that He is God.
He takes those tender moments with Him and makes us soft and breaks up the pride and insecurities and as we continue to soak in His love and in the way He created us to be, we find ourselves more and more like Him deep on the inside. He loves His work in our lives. He loves it because the more He is allowed to love on us, the closer with Him we become. And that is what truly matters. Each of us can be loved by Him and in turn reflect Him in our closeness. And each life in close contact with God becomes His garden where He loves to be and who isn’t affected by being near or in a garden?
