Slow Down And Receive

I’m often puzzled at how quick we are (myself included) to take the horns of life and refuse to get off that bull until we’re thrown. We take that method into our Christian life. We seldom slow down for prayer. And I don’t mean an organized prayer meeting at a specific building. When we have a need, and it is to the point where we are sharing that need with another, and truly what you are sharing is a legit need, do we allow time for the Holy Spirit to speak to the one we are sharing our needs with for them to pray with us? Or do we even ask for prayer? Very few slow down enough to receive. We are quick to jump into words and run off. We seldom wait on God as we sit with a need. Our need is important to God. It is in our need where we find our God is often waiting there to meet it. We are often embarrassed by our need. Don’t be. There is something about someone hearing our need and there wells within the compassion and courage of God to pray with one another. Slow down in these moments. Let the one who hears your need take the time to truly wait and hear and allow the Holy Spirit room to speak and to heal and to deliver. I think if we would take the time and slow down with one another more often and pray with each other, we would begin to see more of the miraculous - God stepping in and doing His thing. And He would get so much glory. Let the bull of religious pride trod and snort. You won’t be found hanging onto its horns anymore.

Jesus is calling to each of us,

“Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
