The Rain That Softly Falls

It’s a real treat
to sit,
take the time,
lay aside the
worries,
the pressures,
what’s pressing,
to watch
the rain fall
softly.

If I stood
underneath
the rain descending
would coat me
ever so gently
like it is
on the leaves
of the trees
right now.
The sounds
are soothing
to my ears
as well as
to my heart.

We need often
to pause,
to take time
and listen
to the silence.
To hear
what needs heard
in the inner depths
of our tender spirit.
God speaks there.
He imparts
His heart
and you just know.

He lifts
those unseen burdens
and the things
that have clung
fiercely
that hold you
down.
He renews.
He restores.
With Him
we are made whole.
How often
even we ourselves
feel condemnation
for simply being.
Just to be.
To sit in silence
and watch
the rain as it falls.
Or sit and look
at the growth
of beautiful green
all around.

Pause.

And allow the silence
with God
to do in you
beautiful things.
Sometimes hard,
but in the long run,
ever so eternally
valuable.

Make room.
Take time.
Return
to your divine
destiny.
He will show
you how
as you
are still.
You will
begin
to know
He is God.
