Migration of the Snowbirds
If one could only see
the United States from above,
one might see a lighted pathway tonight
as thousands and thousands of cars
head to Northern States
on their way back home.
It's a migration.
A migration of birds.
Not any ordinary birds,
but snowbirds to be exact.
These birds take advantage
of the two week break
given to their chicks from school
and set off to a warm destination
over a thousand miles away
in a southernly trek.
After a few hours of land travel,
most would agree
that they wish they had wings
to fly back home to snowy abodes.
We are snowbirds.
And we are truly grateful
for the seasons God created
where temperatures are warm
and the foliage is tropical
and where sand meets sea
for mile upon mile.
